1966 Dodge QQ1 “Red Poly”

Forgive me as I am new to all this. I am in the “bagging and tagging” stage of dismantling a 66 Dart GT. I want to repaint it the original QQ1 color and try to do it myself. Retired and lots of time

I have heard and read negative things about PPG and am looking for suggestions for a brand that can provide this color. I am planning ahead since I have been told all layers (epoxy, build primers, color and clear) should be of the same brand for proper adhesion.

Also, how long can the metal sit with just epoxy primer before laying color. I am thinking not to paint until late fall or winter here due to extreme temps. Considering one of those inflatable paint booths….

Thank you. Still reading and learning.

Amazingly QQ1 is a Bright Metallic Blue in 1968.

I highly recommend Motobase LV and have Chad Sperry, a member on here, get you a quote. I have 5 quarts of this sitting in the cabinet for my 1968 GTX project.

The Motobase LV is produced by Automotive Art and it sprays and covers great.

My car has been sitting in epoxy primer for close to two years now. It will need to be sanded and another coat or two put on, before proceeding to flller, 2k, blocking, etc.
