1963 Dodge Dart for the Wife....

Double damn it.... the wife is going to town this morning for a rouge nail appointment and I can call and have all the cutting and buffing sandpaper ready for her to stop by and pick up...... clearly a weak person....

Is it just the different angles or does it really look that much better after sanding and reapplying clear?

Regardless, I would call that a perfect paint job. Makes me want to go the extra mile on the next project.

No it really did make the color much richer. I think I said it here, it is crap load of work and I would only do it on a rich metallic color like this (_maybe_ my SPI Orange Coronet could benefit). I think it has to do with the magnification effect the thickness of the clear has with the small metallic flakes. What is really does according to Barry is really amplify the UV capability of the clear. He called it "floating the UVs".

600 grit might not be needed, looks darn good from here. Not seeing waves, if it's straight i'd go no lower then 1000g.

We are gonna get this girl on her wheels next weekend! Torsion bars stripped and painted. Lower control arms that Dave at Precision Machine rebuilt for me in Faux Cosmoline and the first 30 years of grime off the gearbox.

Floor patches welded in and epoxy primered. Shooting the trunk and underside with base and UC tomorrow and time for cutting and buffing!

Removable white stripes- use this. I wanted white roof for endless summer. Averaged 88F last month.
Clean paint real good 1st or you'll scratch. Did this last week, 2 24"x31" strips front to back.

Done... (well almost, forgot to shoot the valance with the last 4 coats of clear....). Reason that I shoot the trunk/underbody/underhood AFTER I do the final coats on the outside? Overspray does not matter, I'm going to cut and buff it anyway! I just shot the underside with a heavy "overspray" since it takes so much paint to get a nice consistent color with this turquoise.... I did put 2 coats of heavy clear so it is easy to clean... Nice oak block flat and ready to get the clear sanded flat....
