I picked up a 41 Chrysler New Yorker a few years ago.
It was in pretty decent shape metal wise but it sure had an ugly mug on her.

A couple of pics before.....

I just loved the 37 Ford headlights as I seen alot of them when I was searching for the right project car so I thought they would help ol ugly car look a bit better.
I cut out some metal and the fun began....

A bit of bondo and I got a completed buck.....

Then I had to learn how to shape metal.
MetalMeet.com and Allmetalshaping.com to the rescue. I hooked up with a couple of the local guys and got a few tips and was on my way....

Thanks for looking,

Bob... You should see the guy swing a hammer. He is like he is one with the metal, and also the energizer bunny in disguise (sp). I met him at Metalmeet 2009 and he just wore me out with his jokes and hard work. What a natural with metal.

That thing does look great, and like it is supposed to be that way.

Pugsy, I think I have a hood for one of those cars with the stainless on it if you need any trim. I wish I could work metal like that.

Thanks Aaron.

That's the look I want.
I want it familiar looking but something totally different.

Thanks Bob.

I won't be using any trim but if the hood was available, it'd be nice to know where a backup piece is located.

Then I needed a nice stainless steel chassis with Cobra IRS.
I also used the Cobra front spindles. I ordered them by mistake as I never stopped to consider the possibilty of MacPherson struts.

Pugsy,

How about a picture of the chassis? Are you going to leave the chassis bare or coat it with something?

Never mind, I was typing while you were posting...

I'm thinking about powder coating all the parts which are not stainless.
I think the stainless will stay uncovered in a brushed finish.
Makes for easy maintenance/cleaning.
Amazing. I really appreciate the pictures as I have never tackled any "real" custom work before and its great to see the steps.
You and me both.

If you need any more pics or details, just ask.

LOL!, You've got a few hours invested! That's some amazing metal work and thought put into this. Can't wait to see the finished product.
