Brad J.

Oldtimer
Saylor Beall 707 Pressure Lube pump
10hp Three Phase
120 gallon tank
Currently rebuilding this pump. New rings, bearings, valves.
I don't have three phase to run it but I stand behind the overhaul.
$1500 over half of a new one. Especially the pressure lube model.

Quincy 7.5hp single phase
340 pressure lube pump 26 cfm@175psi
Currently rebuilding this pump also. New rings/gaskets/disc valves. Checked rod bearings and they are great.
New magnetic starter
Will be broken in and oil changed before I sell it.
$1500 again over half a new one.

Eaton 10hp 3 cylinder.
Single Phase
auto drain
I bought new in fall of 09'.
It's currently running on the third pump and the crank is going out of it again.
It's under warranty just have to go to Eaton and get a new pump.
Steve at eaton said they had problems with the old vendor and have setup another facility in China to manufacture this pump correctly.
I paid over 2600 for it and I'd take $1500 for it as is.

I'm going to keep which ever single phase I don't sell. I thought I'd see if their is any interest in this stuff. I have a softspot for rebuilding real air compressors.
Located new Battle Creek, MI

The Saylor-Beall is a great deal! I just had to have my setup fixed, I got a rebuilt Saylor-Beall 707 splash lube and a used 7.5HP 3PH installed on my existing tank for $1100 which I thought was a good deal, but yours is better. A little sooner and a little closer, and I would have snapped that deal up!

Freight is a killer on stuff that heavy!!!

I purchased the saylor beall probably 4-5 years ago from ebay. I had a buddy pick it up in Chicago but they never mentioned that they tipped it over and the crank was bent. Same buddy was doing a scrap drive for the local church and came across another 707 pump in the basement of a building and it ran the stuff for a dry cleaner. I made a fair donation to the church and this pressure lubed pump was mine. I'm taking the nice lowerend of the pressure lube and putting the top end from the low hour one that was tipped over. With a rebuild kit of course. Between buying the compressor, the pump, and rebuild kit it's about what I have into it. Minus picking it up and labor to overhaul it.
It probably seems like a lot but the local body shop was pricing the same setup last summer it was around 3900 installed with a tank drain.

Other than the Eaton, these are the last compressors you'd ever have to buy. Sorry, China and I don't get along anymore.

wow that sux on the eaton. mine has been great and runs and runs everyday. mine is a 7.5hp though. maybe different pump or manufacturer who knows.

At least they got rid of all the American flags that used to be plastered all over the Eaton site. Talk about misleading! I will admit that the refrigerated dryer I bought from them has lasted, so no real complaint there, but I was disappointed when we got it to realize it was 100% pure Chineseum...

I was going to buy one of their dryers but not after the second pump failed. I probably would be fine If I'd bought the 4cylinder model. I bought the 3 cylinder setup and it seems to me the rods don't cancel themselves like two rods running in a v like a small block v8. The flyhweel doesn't run very smooth either. Like it's machined wrong from the castings and it's causing the crank to fail. I ran this by Eaton and they didn't say much. If I cared I'd pull it and have the balance checked on the flywheel. But... My original pump had a pulley with a lightweight plastic fan. This original setup wouldn't have the weight/balance issue that a large flywheel would.

I really should just put my Quincy 350 pump that I have on the bench on it and throw the Cineseum pump in a river. Thank You Crash, I like that word.

Wish I would have known last summer.
I ended up buying the C-AIRE 3cyl compressor.
It's in a room that is suppposed to be only for assembly so it won't run all that much. the little bit I have used it it seems to be ok.

I still have this stuff if interested.

1200 for the Eaton being used daily but it still knocks. Pump still underwarranty. 1500 for it if I go get a new pump and install

Saylor beall is done and I'd take 1200 for it also. Losing money at that. Nice compressor though

I also have a 216 Quincy pressure lube pump. Works great and I used it as a paint only compressor last winter. Makes around 10cfm's at 800 Rpm's. Ran a da or paint gun great. $200.00

I need a 7.5 or 10HP pump, but not a whole air compressor. The "rebuilt" pump I have is leaking terribly, and is developing a knock.

What is leaking? Disc valves not sealing? Is your check valve in the tank leaking? This can bleed back through the valves is they aren't totally sealing.

Knock isn't a big deal. Any good machine shop can turn the crank and get undersize bearings. A good hour can dissasemble the entire thing.

Rebuild kit is around 400 bucks.

I think your kinda vested in the thing.

I just put all my spare parts for the Saylor on my scrap trailer. Extra heads and rods. Tear it down and let me know what you need.

Well, the problem is that I am too busy to do it, although it's something I wouldn't mind doing if I had the time. I just can't afford to stop, and the darn pump is leaking about 1/2 quart of oil a week. It's in a closet so I can't get around the flywheel side to see where. Probably just the side covers, who knows! I'm disgusted with the guy who did this.

Brad, do you have a supplier for the disc valves or the parts? I had to make some parts for the disc valves in my WAYNE/Emglo pump...ust curious if anyone is supplying parts if I need to get into it again down the road.

I used to buy online but a local compressed air company is competitive so I just buy there. I've rebuilt a few of the major brands but I've never done a Wayne so I'm not up on their parts availability. I would say it would be like the Kellogg where the basic rebuild stuff is available not not hard parts. If taken care of I've never seen a compressor need more.

This Emglo has been running since 1975, one rebuild on it in 2006, and I'll keep it going as long as there are parts available.

I sold the Saylor beall. Local body shop burned last weekend and he's going to rebuild. I gave him a heck of a deal as he's a friend and I won't cash in on his misfortune.

I gave the 216 pump to my dad for his little home compressor.

I still have the Eaton. I'm selling it for the price of a 10hp motor and tank. Still no interest. I'm officially out of the compressor business. I seem to lose money on each one.

I have the three that I need and the last one I bought the wife made a deal that I have to pay her dollar for dollar for anymore that I buy. Obviously this keeps me from buying anymore as the price is doubled. It's great having a wife that is smarter than me, I usually take a few times to learn but she's right there to rub it in when it doesn't pan out.

Brad,

I think it's a female gene that helps them protects their mate from harm. Whenever my "smart" turns out to be "stupid" it wasn't because I wasn't warned. I love my wife but I hate her being right all the time. Of course there was that one time -- never mind, she was still right.
