The kit does come with decals but I painted the meatballs and stripes, much better result that way. I use Gravity colors out of Spain for the bases. Very accurate color matches and sold in 2oz bottles.

    Universal Clear Layering

I’ve used everything at some point. Acrylic, Laquer, enamel and auto bases. Tamiya paint is great if you shoot it with Mr Hobby Leveling thinner. You can use this stuff in laquers as well. It flashes slower allowing the paint to smooth out. The Tamiya is available as a laquer as well. It sprays...

    Universal Clear Layering

I lay decals on top of smooth base all the time, you really don’t need a shiny surface. Adding two layers of clear, especially 2k urethane is going to kill a lot of surface detail and panel lines. If you use a decal solvent like Microsol or the like you shouldn’t have any issues getting decals...

1/64 is a tough scale not to bury all detail, you’ve done a great job. I’m working on a 1/12 Porsche 917K as we speak. Plan on doing it in the Gulf livery.

Thanks Mike. I spray at 20psi with an Iwata Eclipse Hp-cs and it goes down like a dream. I have another Iwata with a .5 tip but it’s too much. The clear goes down great but it ends up killing detail because of the build. I really find two wet coats is plenty. Any more, it kills detail and looks...

    SPI white jobs

Found my car in Central California 2010. 1 owner survivor, original paint. My intention was to V8 the thing but the car was in such good condition I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Have learned to love the inline 6 and the side drafts.
