    Sand/Burn through on sharp edges

What is your favorite way (besides not doing it to start with) to fix a sand/burn through on an edge. Base is activated and it just hits the epoxy under it. Jim

    Airbrush and UC

Where should I start in reducing UC to use with an airbrush? 50%?

    How to fix this pit?

Noticed this when spraying base. How would you fix it?

It ok to leave base mixed with reducer correct?

Probably for a few months. Thanks Jim

    Base and UC temps

Lot of info on temps for epoxy. What about base and UC? What is the coldest metal temp have you shot on?

    Final 400 sanding

Do you typically use a block for that final sanding to apply base? After using Dean's flat hard blocks up to now it is very easy to burn through a couple coats of epoxy with them. All I am sanding out now the texture of the final 2 epoxy coats with some guide coat. I just need to sand enough...

    Scuffing Pads

Anyone have a suggestion for a good sanding pad to run around the underbody to scuff up epoxy for another coat? Doing it with paper is difficult do to the welds, overlaps, uneven surfaces. I bought a pack of those 80 harbor freight sponge pads for $5 and they actually are not half bad so I...

    Matte Black

Comments on using and how flat is SPI Matte Black? Think about interior dash/doghouse/steering column. I would hate to spend 300 on a gallon and not like it.... Much cheaper to get some SEM hot rod black to test but that is about 2x the cost in the long run to the SPI black.... Jim

    SPI Orange and White Stripe

Thinking of going SPI Orange (miss the Coronet a bit for the color in the garage) with a white center band... thoughts on the white... should it be SPI pure white or more of a cream white? Like this with the turquoise SPI orange.. Thoughts?

    Filler on bare metal

So after seven years of doing this, I’ve got trained like a monkey that filter goes on top of epoxy. My thoughts on that were basically you’re trying to seal the backside with the primer so that you don’t get moisture intrusion from the backside. What about something like a dog house? I will...

    Fixing Pin Holes

Has anyone tried fixing pinholes (from rust after blasting) with torch and slivers (welding rods) of the same metal to just sort weld/melt in new metal to fill the holes vs using a welder? Jim

    Blasting Hood

My cheap blasting hood is on its last legs. The hard hat with a vinyl cover sucks. Anyone have a recommendation for a nice hood that won’t break the bank.

    SS vs Base Clear

So after cutting and buffing this SS Satellite I am starting to wonder what I should use for the A100 trucks... My opinion on base clear for pastel colors like the yellow and blue on the Valiant and Duster is that 4+4 coats of Universal Clear does not do much because the color is not that deep...

    Nason Ful-Thane

Anyone ever use this and have issues with fisheyes? I’m being punished for trying to help out a friend. Just trying to fix a couple bad spots and I keep getting fisheyes. I just cleaned/serviced my oil separators and have a dryer (and it is 4% humidity at 80F). Happened once but I thought it...

    Loosing Sleep

Would you loose sleep over this? I plan on selling this truck when done so my name will be on it. Backside of the front fender. Looks horrible. Nothing is through and seems to pass Robert’s ice pick test. With everything else I have done to eradicate rust in this truck it is bothering me. To...

    More Ospho/Rust Discussion

On my A100 I am having a dilemma. It was sprayed with a foam on the interior of the cab for some reason (heat rejection in Phoenix?) and everywhere the foam was it absorbed water and pitted the metal under it. These parts are the backside of exterior panels so if I do what I should, blast the...

    Weld Seams?

On the Dodge A100 there are a number of seams where the body panels are spot welded internal leaving a line on the outside. I have been thinking about welding these all and smoothing the body out. The main reason is I’m nervous that without splitting and blasting all these body lines, or...
