Finished spraying my car, time to sand and buff. Just making sure I know what to do.

You could try the Mequiars maroon foam pad with the rotary and 105 for the heavy work and then go to the DA with yellow or black foam or microfiber pad with the 205 for finishing.

    new paint safe spray "detailer"

Can't speak to the other sprays but I have personally used Mequiars D155 on freshly painted hood/tailgate/grill on my truck I painted (cleared with U/C) within 2-3 days of painting and sanding/buffing, I used it to clean the surface of buffing residue. Also used it for 2 to 3 months till I could...

    new paint safe spray "detailer"

Can you provide details to the "sealing properties" you refer to, my understanding is they simply clean the surface as opposed to wax/sealant which seals. Thanks..

    new paint safe spray "detailer"

Any "Quick Detailer" should be fine,if you want a clay lube/detailer spray I use Meguiars D155 in the deailer line, comes in gallon size and is diluted up to 2:1 for clay lube and detailer spray also. There also is Meguiars "Quik Detailer", "Ultimate Quik Detailer" and "NXT Speed Detailer"...

    trizact or??

Jim, Mike Phillips is one of the top paint polishing instructors in North America, he worked for Mequiars for a number of years and now works at Autogeek. I believe he knows the system quite well, for the record he is "Damp Sanding" using the Unigrit Foam Backed 3000 grit finishing disc with a...

Jim, search "Damp-Sanding a 1956 Chevrolet Belair", Mike Phillips used 2 Unigrit 3000 Foam Finishing Discs to sand entire car prior to buffing. Lots of pictures.

    Disambiguating the buffing ambiguities

Mequiars m105 followed by m205 with appropriate pads will pull out 2500 scratches easily.

    polishing

There is a little more to the "bucket", there is a manual pump system inside that pumps the cleaning solution into your pad as you depress it.You then run your pad against the "grit quard" type pad cleaner inside the bucket and it does a great job of cleaning pads, either wool or foam, all...

    SPI black buffing dilemma

Try some m205 (Mequiars) on their yellow foam pad at medium speed with a rotary buffer, do a small section at a time and clean the pad often. M7 will not remove the swirls, you have to get them out first!!, very hard (almost impossible) to get completely swirl free using a wool pad. M7 is a...

    Which pads to use

I very seldom use the black pads for paint correction, if you are dealing with very soft paint you may need the polishing pad. I usually use the yellow for the majority of the "polishing" step, m205 will usually finish very well with the yellow pad, but again it depends on the hardness of the...

    Which pads to use

The Mequiars maroon pads are the "cutting" pads, yellow are the "buffing" pads and black are the "polishing" pads. Wool is for rotary use only. Check out ADS (Auto Detailing Solutions) for good prices and really great service. Also checkout MOL (Mequiars on Line) forums and Autogeek forums,lots...
