    IT DOESN'T MATCH

I painted a front bumper and fender and they didn't match so I mounted them on the car, sanded the clear with 600 and painted them together and they still don't match, adding more base coats doesn't make it any better. what the heck???

    Epoxy goo?

What's this clear thick honey like goo that oozes out around my epoxy primer cans? It's real nasty to clean off. Should I be storing my epoxy cans upside down, would that keep it from happening. I've had it on brand new unopened quart cans and ones that are months old.

    Black Plastic Trim

What's the best way to recondition faded black plastic trim on cars. Spray it with new paint made for trim? Or is there any wipe on products out there that will last. Every wipe on product I've used just washes off. I'm looking for something that will last, for awhile anyway.

    Epoxy or Etch?

I haven't use etch primer in over 25yrs, BUT! I painted a stripped aluminum boat with etch first, then urethane back in the early 90's, (The etch was a 1K product) Several yrs later I repainted it, sanded the paint, sprayed epoxy, then used urethane again. Worked great and held up well. But...

    IT'S GETTING HOT!

Remember to drink lots of water, and when you do, sometimes you need to replenish what the water rinses away with something like Gatorade. I know I do, this heat is making it hard.

    Flop Control

Any of you know any tricks for minimizing flop? Spraying base more wet or drier make a difference? I'm still having problems with some silvers that I can't get a good match because of the flop. There's got to be a something to help, so help!

    Flattener for Flop

Have any of you used flattener to help control flop? I've heard it can help and wondering if flattener would change the color a little or if it's safe to add and try. I'm always looking for a little flop control. DuPont sells a quart of "flop control" for around $100.00 but that's a little much...

    Fiberglass crack

I have a motorcycle saddlebag I'm painting and the top hatch door has a crack underneath on the side, doesn't appear on the outside gelcoat. Should I vee grove this out and add resin or is there something better to use? I'm concerned it may crack again from opening and closing the door then come...

    How hot can epoxy get?

When I use a heat lamp I try to stay under 130 degrees, But I have a black hood in the sun that is 135 degrees in the later afternoon. It probably will get hotter during mid day. How hot is to hot?

    Cracked Spot Putty

This is a hail damaged fender I did a couple months ago, it was fine when it left my shop but several weeks later it cracked. I've been using this 2K putty brand for years and never had a problem. This really puzzles me to why it happened, it wasn't even over a hail dent, just a skim coat over...

    Fine Mesh Strainer

These little strainers are great for clearcoats, they filter finer than a conventional paint strainer and are easily cleaned because they fit in a 1 qt. mix cup. Just wipe it off with a paper towel, dunk in a cup of thinner, then blow it off with air. They're only $1.00 on Ebay under "fine mesh...

    Great Electric Sander

Here's an electric sander by Bosch that's great for auto body work. It has a switch that makes it either random orbit for finish work or "rotary only" which makes it real aggressive and great for stripping. It's 6" and has a 6.5 amp motor. I use it for my wood working but it also works great for...

    Filler Hardener vs Sanding

Any one on here notice a relationship between how much hardener is used and how easy or hard the filler is to sand. I've been comparing ratios and it seems to me that if I use less hardener in my fillers and putties that it's easier to sand. Of course it's longer to set up too. But if it makes...

    Wax & Grease Remover

This stuff works great for cleaning the make-up brushes that the ladies use to apply their make-up. My wife loves it for that. Also, she uses it a lot in the kitchen for greasy areas around the stove. Just give them some in a small spray bottle and they'll love you for it. (I hope)

    Epoxy on Aluminum

I'm painting a alum. valve cover for a customer, I want to keep the epoxy slick so I don't have to sand it, it's got a lot of irregularities, so a sealer coat would be smoother. but do I need full strength epoxy for better adhesion?

    SANDING RUNS

I always like sanding the heads off the runs as quick as possible, that way the remainder will harden up faster making it easier to remove later. You can't do it to soon or you'll tear it so I came up with s handy little wood block that I can use coarse paper on (like 180) to pre sand the run...

    Basecoat Storage

Does anyone know if storing basecoat that has already been reduced will affect the color? I have some that's 5 yrs old and it seems different than the spray-out I did back then.

    Pink Epoxy

I just had to show this, it made me laugh. I wanted the white epoxy to be tinted a little red to help for coverage of the red base. A little red goes a long way with white.

    FYI-Smelly kerosene heaters.

I finally figured out why my torpedo kerosene heater smells so much worse than when it was new. I changed the filters, set the fuel pressure and cleaned it out, but no difference. So I removed the spray nozzle, disassembled it and found a real small "O" ring on the end of the brass nozzle...
