    Adhesion promoter

I am building my second Harley and all the parts on thus one are plastic or fiber glass. My first one, a deuce, was all metal. The quality of the plastic molded pieces and fiberglass parts are excellent quality but, to insure maximum adhesion I have used the promoter. I applied 3 coats of black...

    Epoxy below the waterline?

Read with great interest! I want to paint my Sun Ray. It is in excellent condition, very few nicks/dings and so forth. The graphics are outdated and the main reason for the repaint. I was simply going to use epoxy primer, then single stage white or even base/clear. Opinions and options are...

    SPI bedliner - S10

My little S10 V8 conversion got it's SPI bedliner yesterday. Great stuff! 3 coats in about an hour and a half. Applied over 2 coats of SPI black epoxy. It took me a day to prep (80 grit) and clean the bed, mask and cover up then apply the epoxy Tuesday. Shot the bedliner yesterday.

Should I prep fiberglass by sanding?

I would scuff it with gray scotchbrite, solvent clean it with wax and grease remover and shoot 3 coats of epoxy.

    The joy of problems

That usually happens when I let someone else use my gun. I have learned to clean them when returned.

    Lacquer thinner removes universal clear

I agree, Jim. Leave a rag with laquer thinner on it on your new car and watch what happens. If you have to clean anything off, I would use wax and grease remover. Gently. .

    Promo on Turbo Primer

For those of us who have never used the Turbo primer, Barry, what are the pros and cons. Should I use Turbo instead of High Build? Particularly in restoration work. I am going to be ordering quite a bit of epoxy in the next day or two. Should I add a kit of Turbo?

    Buffing problems

This has been a "relearning experience" for an old guy. I have never been one to cut corner and, I am usually skeptical of "new" things over tried and true methods. Clearly this is not a Universal clear problem, Bob. I was perplexed in the beginning of this thread. When you consider how much I...

    Buffing problems

I must admit, this is the first time I have had this kind of problem but, recognize that is largely my fault. Not only did I use the 1500 but, I over used it. I made 6 to 8 section passes assuming the 3000 would remove them. I overused the 3000 and realize now it is good for 1 panel or...

    Buffing problems

Thanks, Jim. I make overlapping passes with each grit in 2 passes. I made at least 4 passes with the 1500 with no foam interface (yes... trizact blue film with water) and I did, indeed, do the whole car with 2 3000 pads with foam interface. 2 pads of 5000, as well. I will go over it again with...

    Buffing problems

I have been unable to get to my shop for a couple of months but, am "back in the saddle" as is said. As some might recall, I shot SPI Universal clear on my '65 Barracuda and, 64 Fury back in the fall. The sprayability and gloss of the Universal clear are excellent even when compared to the PPG...

    Worlds rariest floor pan?

I have had so many difficulties with mustang parts suppliers. As bad as aftermarket parts are as a rule, it seems mustang parts are the worse you can get. I will be interested in who you end up with for parts, SOF. I have a 64 1/2 vert, a '66 vert and a '90 vert in my shop now.
