    Epoxy Flash Time

Hypothetically speaking, what adverse affects could there be to rushing the flash time of epoxy if it is not going to be top coated? I've been doing some parts to a front loader, which are finished in black epoxy. It sure would be nice to hammer on three coats in a half hours time and call it done.

    63 Vette

I have an opportunity to purchase a 63 convertible 327 automatic. I know nothing about Corvettes, but the C2 has always been one of my favs. Any suggestions of what to look for would be greatly appreciated.

    Exterior Fiberglass Door

I am finishing an exterior fiberglass door. The door is woodgrain and will be stained prior to clear coating. At the advice of some on this forum, I have used many gallons of the Lenmar Megavar conversion varnish. I like it a lot, but I have no idea how it would hold up to the moisture and UV...

    Flexible Adhesive

I am looking for flexible adhesive that I could use to hold an oil bath air filter inside the grill shell of a tractor. The air filter is held on at two sides of the grill. One side is an internal cross-member that can be bolted. The other side is the outer skin that is already painted. Normally...

    Painting Kitchen Cabinets

I need to paint some custom cabinets. They are new poplar wood. The color will be white. I would like to do a nice job and for these to last a long time - so I'm thinking of using white epoxy, SPI base and clear. Is there a product at Lowes (or similar) that I should consider? If I go the SPI...

    Euro or Production

I've never tried either one. Lately I've been doing mostly tractor restorations (they tend to take a lot of product). I'm just about out of Universal, so I'm thinking of options. Will I notice any differences? Will switching be worth the savings? I suppose I could (and maybe should) be using...

    Color of New Vehicle

I am looking at a new F-250. I am considering Ruby Red, which I'm assuming is a tri-coat. I tend to keep vehicles a long time. So, I'm thinking that there is a good chance I will need to do repair on it some day. Even though I like that color the best, should I go with Ingot Silver or Magnetic...

    Rod Radiators

I need to get a new radiator for my 1934 Chevy Master. It had a Griffin radiator since I built the car in 2010. It is now leaking from the joint between the tubes and lower tank. I have no reason to believe that this leak is caused by anything other than a manufacturer defect. Needless to say, I...

    Paint for Tree Tubes

I know this isn't the kind of thing we usually discuss around these parts, but here it goes anyway... I have a lot of unfinished fiberglass tree tubes. These are not the kind you buy. They are bare glass tubes that I am using as tree tubes. Anyway, I want to keep the glass from blooming and...

    Let's talk buffers II

My Flex rotary is now arcing from the brushes really bad. If it is the same problem as the last time, I'm assuming that the segments of the commutator are warped, causing the brushes to skip, thereby creating arcing and intermittent running. It has always had an overheating problem. I find...

Nibs or Solvent Pop in Flow Coat

Why do I always get little specks all over when I flow coat? About a week ago I sprayed 3 coats of UV clear. I sanded it out this weekend with 400 and 600. Yesterday I washed the parts with Dawn. Then I went over them with 700 in a spray bottle. Tonight I tacked them off at least 2x. I was...

    Applying Decals

I would like some advice on how to apply the decals shown in the picture. I've seen tutorials showing masking tape as a hinge. I've read on here about using water with a little dish soap. I've never don'e any decals this long or wide so any advice would be appreciated! One potential problem is...

Not just another 7 Day Window ?

I am aware that common practice around here is to scuff epoxy after two days. I always follow the two day rule...it's usually not a big deal. Here's the problem. Tonight I sprayed two coats of epoxy on a bunch of very irregular tractor grill parts. Many of these parts are only partially...

    Flex Buffer

I've had my Flex L 3403 VGR for about two years now. It is nice to handle and use but I always thought the gearbox got a lot hotter than it should. Now, after buffing no more than 5 cars it barely works. There is a serious blue arc coming from the left brush. I took the brush out, and it looks...

    Scratch Shrinkage Problem

I am trying to figure out what I have been getting sand scratch shrinkage or swelling lately. Example one: 1999 Acura Ingegra I blocked the OEM paint with 180 and sprayed 2 coats of SPI epoxy. I always induce my epoxy more than 30 minutes. I probably waited an hour between coats. The...

    1999 Acura Integra

Here are some pictures of my last project. This is my daily driver. It had 140,000 miles worth of dings, some pretty bad hail damage from a tornado back in 2010, and the typical rust damage around the rear wheels. After I fixed the rust inside the wheel wells, I used SPI epoxy and Bedliner to...
