UPOL RAPID CURE MARSILLA BODY FILLER QUESTION

That's a lot of filler... We use about a gal can every 6 mos or so unless someone brings us a turd to polish.

Cost of PPG DC 3000 Kit?

I wouldn't take DC3000 for free. I've seen it go bad starting at about the 3 year mark. I think my jobber sells it though, if nobody else knows I will call them for you.

    1968 C15

Nice update! I ended up buying the sockets for those caps because I didn't want to mar the new ones. Haven't used them since lol, but I'm sure we haven't seen our last old GM pickup.

Sanding Grits Thru the Complete Process.

150 or 180 is pretty much personal preference. But it's just my opinion that those who use 180 would probably be better served using 240 as their next grit, because 180 and 220 are too close together. 240 is not as easy to find theses days though. Back when I worked for other people in...

PPG clear coat changed color/reflectance of silver met. paint

I am suspicious that something more happened than just a re-clear in that area myself, it's too dramatic to be just clear. But whatever.

PPG clear coat changed color/reflectance of silver met. paint

I think something went sideways in the repair process and now the doors have to be included in a redo. If they can't get that right, they should in fact repaint the whole thing. It's their duty to do so, imo.

Sanding Grits Thru the Complete Process.

I would only buy the coarser grits at first unless the project was small. No bodywork was mentioned but I would assume some 40 would be a good bet for roughing in filler. In the projects we do, 40, 80, 150, 220, and a box of red scuff pads will get a car almost to final primer. No use having...

tiny paint blisters- what lies beneath

Chlorine is pretty rough on stuff. I wonder if, in the future, a rinse with a garden hose after being in the pool would help? Just a thought.

    SPI Black Base

#700 water base does have or used to have some acetone in it I believe, it attacked at least one brand of base we used so we just stopped using it for that particular purpose. So you'll need to call Barry or wait for others to give their experience, we can't use SPI base because 99% of our work...

    SPI Black Base

I would sand it with no finer than 800 on a block because there may be visible texture later if you don't, and definitely clean the snot out of it before spraying. I'm not sure if #700 is okay for SPI base or not, generally we use #710 to clean base coat. I'll have to leave it to others to help...

    SPI Black Base

Yeah, looking again, are those runs down below from the base coat? That's a sign that it was way too wet. Base should be medium coats only. But even that said, the indication is that there is some kind of contamination in play. Aside from being on the surface from fingers, etc, or in the air...

    SPI Black Base

Silicone is a persistent and stubborn contaminant. We recently painted a fender and door on a freshly detailed Explorer and it was hell to get clean. Tape wouldn't stick to the jambs well even after multiple wipes with different W&G removers. The outside still wanted to fisheye in spots and I...

    SPI Black Base

That area appears to be contaminated and also the base appears to be sprayed very wet and/or with too slow of reducer for conditions. Normally you would not be able to see large wavy texture in the base. Pics can be deceiving though. Coatings are more sensitive to even minor contamination when...

    1968 C15

It'll be great to watch the progress of this build! I have to admit I am a little sad to see the original engine go, but it's totally understandable why the LS has just become completely dominant.
