68 Camaro Quarter repair

Looking for a little advice from the pro's on replacing rusted area on passenger side wheel well. Use a full quarter or quarter skin or they have a three piece patch kit which seems like more work. Butt weld or flange weld. I read where the flange weld can show a seem later but is easier to fab. Thanks

You could buy a quarter skin, cut out the bad areas, prep the outer wheelhouse and butt weld the patches in. Being the rust is in the front and the back of the wheel opening I would be concerned of it bubbling on top later. I would look further into that wheelhouse and try to see whats going on. As much as I like original metal I may think of a full quarter on that. If your REAL careful you could take the full quarter off, repair and put it back on. That way you could fix/replace or prep the outer wheelhouse. But that's just how I think. Others may do it differently/easier,better.

You really need to either blast that or get down to the bottom. That is just where the rust is started, its where the outer wheel house pinches to the quarter, there is space above that. There is little doubt it probably runs to the bottom and depending if the pee hole of the trunk extension has been clogged up its the high spot of the problem not the lower side.

We did skins and patched the rest, all the patches is where the the rust started already, and he rarely drives it in bad weather. It also took him a long time to find the center line. We also have another thread going about getting a quarter and not matching to the lower pan on the back.

Do you have the few days it will take to get the parts to get into it further?
