Poly Primer Straight to 2k

Was looking for some advice on preferred steps. I have the car blocked in 2k and have a couple lows and sand throughs. I know these areas need epoxy before 2k but does the rest of the poly need sealed or just fix the bare spots and spray 2k over the poly?

No just the bare metal areas, 2k will stick fine to poly primer sanded with 180.

What I've been doing, right or wrong, is one coat epoxy over the metal, wait 15 minutes, then one coat epoxy over the entire panel in a contrasting color to the primer I'll be spraying. This lets me know when I'm getting close to metal, without going through, when sanding.

The overspray I'm talking about is same as a shop spot basing a door
Its wet and does not need sanding
Before next step of 2k.
However if you have loose overspray yes its needs sanding.

Yes I should have been more clear, I was talking about the ring around the spot in.

Makes sense when you talk about spotting base as an example.

Good to discuss both types though, it's kind of an unknown for me. I have usually been over cautious and scuffed anyway.
