Two tone paint job

image.jpeg I need to paint the bottom part of my truck. It has a silver bottom strip and the rest is black. I replaced the cab corners and part of the rockers. My deliema is after I spray the base coats (silver and black) how do I clear them without having a hard line? I have some blending solvent from SPI. My thinking is to sand with 1000 grit up the panel a ways and then spray the blending solvent followed by the clear. Doing this for each coat. Is this right?
I've never did a two tone panel repair before, any help would be appreciated.
I've attached a photo of the area I will be painting.

You can mask the body line preferably where it faces the ground and use that for your clear edge you won't notice it and if you rub it it will be unnoticeable.

For the 2 tone you can either mask and paint (base) each color separately or you can paint (base) the upper color first allow to flash off good then mask off for the silver (lower color)
unmask and clear as mentioned above.

LEAVE THE BLENDING SOLVENT ALONE!!!!! I cannot stress that enough. What you are describing is not what it's intended for. Do as DATEC described. Tape lines are unavoidable. Only way to not have a tape line is to bury it in clear and cut and buff. If you do as DATEC described and tape to an edge of a body line, the line will be very minimal. I like to spray the accent color first, let it flash overnight if time allows if it's collision repair I'll give it 30 minutes minimum. Then tape it off and spray the main color. Untape as soon as you get done with the main color then clear. Line will be minimal.

Ok, thanks guys I will take your advice. Now I have a game plan. Will let you know how I make out.
