Swirl Marks Reappearing

as the level of quality has increased the methods of buffing have had to change. in the days of lacquer we could sand to 600 and get after it with an 8 in wool pad on a grinder using red mud out of a gal can. today it is mini buffing . smaller pads, smaller buffers doing much smaller sections . i'm old and grouchy so i take my time and do just one panel at a time.

Where do you get your Menzerna products? Do you recommend using their pads too? What compounds and polishes and products have you used from them, and what do you recommend?

Thank you guys, Jim, what are you using for pads? What are your thoughts on Meguiars 105/205 set up? Maybe I'll try the Sonax instead, what pads set up are you using from start to finish Jim? Thank you.

on large flat stuff, mostly boats, hoods, roof, etc i will use wool to compound with but for anything smaller and curved like bikes i always use foam. i like the hexlogic pads. for compound either the yellow or orange. polishing i use black foam. you will like the sonax compound. stuff really works. there is really no reason to spend the extra 10 bucks on the menzerna. as you prob know meguires is 3m. the 105 is perfect-it compound that seems to actually have more fillers in it and packaged with the meguires label. 105 seems like it cuts fast but if you dont like the scratches coming back with the 3m you damn sure arent going to like the 105. that is a detailers compound all the way.

Thanks Jim, they are on sale I think until July 5th, I believe 20% off on Chemical Guys website.

Shine, what Chemical guys compounds/polishes/pads are you using? I'm going to place an order soon, thanks, Dan.

Jim, what Sonax products, compounds/polishes are you using? I'm going to try both products thank you , Dan.

buy the 4oz sample pak for 20.00 . i use the orange and black hexlogic pads. i also use the orange/black cutting pad.
they usually have sales on a 3 pad set with pad cleaner or conditioner . orange/white/black .

the orange and black pads that shine mentions are really good. i also use the yellow one which is more coarse than the orange. the only thing sonax i am using is their compound. it works well with wool or foam. wool cuts faster in most cases.

Any particular part number that you suggest from Sonax in regards to their polishes/compounds?
