Swamp filter

I need to reduce/eliminate the bad odors coming from my home made spray booth so as not to upset the neighbors. I've read some members commenting about their swamp filters being effective at reducing the odors. Can you please post a pic or two of what you have so I can get started making one?

This is why commercial booths exhaust air straight up with high velocity. Are your neighbors complaining? At some point the EPA or state or city might come knocking. Make sure you are familiar with the De Minimis regulations in your state etc and that you are not exceeding the annual maximum amounts of material you are consuming...

You could also start using the low VOC versions that are shipped to California etc.

I thought of charcoal filters but even though I used overspray filters, I think they'll load up with paint spray to be effective for any length of time. Yes, its the neighbors I'm concerned about. I've sprayed 25+ days, but the neighbors complained once and the police came a knockin, so I want to minimize the chance of that happening again. I'm allowed to spray 2 cars/year. Never thought of the low VOC stuff. I'll have to call Barry to inquire about the drawbacks of it compared to Universal clear.

Spraying primer is low risk, not much overspray being ventilated. Base is OK too. Its the clear that creates the cloud. I though some type of wet mist in the exhaust duct may help as well or a swamp filter others have spoke about.

For exhaust filters look at the Styrofoam type, air filtration has them.
Also a trick I did 40 years ago was set a fan sprinkler shooting in up position where air come out of garage, worked great.

I've tried the water spraying on the exhaust and it did help, but it doesnt get rid of the entire cloud. I'd love to see what people have setup for filters after the fans. I use paint pockets on my filter box in the garage and I still have clear get through.

It's funny I had a pic of this. I was actually talking to someone months ago about it. but like I said, it worked ok but didnt solve the problem 100%. Problems of the DIY guy!!

I have been using the fiberglass paint arresting filters when spraying epoxy. I have not sprayed base or clear. What causes all the fog? Is it solvents that don't get caught by the fiberglass filters?
