Do you like dry or wet sanding with them?I have some 800 sponges I use to denib sealer. They work well for that.
Don
That last sentence is how my wife describes me.To me , they are in between a piece of sandpaper and a scotchbrite. The sponges cut a little more than texture or nibs, scotchbrite only scratches. The sponges work well in difficult spots, where sandpaper is easier. Just another tool sometimes.
No commentI'm finding that used dry, they clog fast and when wet, they roll over.
TK is back! Glad to see you and hope all is well.No comment
I have some that I have used for sanding basecoat. I haven't really used them for anything else.Who uses the sanding sponges? What's your thoughts on them?
I have the Norton but the same thang.if we are talking about the 1/8" thick 3m grey ones then yes i use them in the medium grit which is about 180-220. i cut them in half sheet size and use them to prep non metal surfaces for primer, gelcoat etc. they work great for this in oddly shaped areas and up tight to a fineline edge where you cant get a sander. i do find the grit on them wears out quick or falls off. they really got the density of the foam right on them though. once they are worn out i use them for a backup pad. i get the brown eagle assilex sheets and wrap it around the foam. the eagle stuff lasts 10 times as long as the original pad plus its sharper and cuts quicker. eagle's assilex backup pads are way too soft and dont work well at all.
