Base coat decision to make

Just got a quote on WANDA.
Gal. mixed B9A white $315 Straight WANDA white was $208 jobber said it would be close. IDK
Qt. of mixed Black $70.
A good bit cheaper than Diamont. @ $530
Leaning toward the WANDA as it seems the quality it there..

I never had any trouble with WANDA. My jobber dropped it as some deal he made with PPG. Wanda does (as most) recommend priming or sealing over ECOAT before applying base. I can tell you from experience HEED THAT RECOMMENDATION with Wanda. I did a quickie on one of our shop trucks and sprayed Wanda base straight to prepped e-coat and it didn't peel but it sure looks like someone shot it with a shot gun where every single little rock chipped it to the black e-coat. Looks terrible. BUT, they said to seal it and I didn't.

ive been using it for about 4-5 years now i guess. never once had an issue with the stuff. cant comment on the ecoat since i dont ever work on ecaoted parts but i do always prime or seal with epoxy. i actually had more issues with diamont than i did with wanda lol. this week i have to do a name on a $8mil yacht and i wont think twice about putting it on there.

Omni Plus is low grade collision repair type base. Not very good quality. PPG has gone insane on pricing in the Deltron Line. Jim like Wanda, I've only used it twice but like it as well. There are a lot of Distributors in your area so you can get it. Find them here:https://wandarefinish.us/distribution/
Motobase is the paint Jim C was referring to that member Chad S sells. Here is his site: http://www.autorodtechnologies.com/chads-paint-and-audio/ Both of those would be excellent economical options where you are not sacrificing quality, unlike with the Omni Plus.
Talk to Barry about the White. Maybe he can help.

I am a distributor for Wanda but I do not stock it or mix it currently. When I brought Wanda in I also carried Moto-Base, we had so much more luck with Moto-Base that is what we stuck with, there were a few factors, it mixes 1:1 so goes farther, and after reduction it also covered a little bit better. Wanda had a strong database on older cars than moto-base. They were both about the same price pre reduction so when you figured the fact that MB mixed 1:1 people leaned towards the MB as it got them a little more for the money.

We also noticed in certain colors like some bright reds that MB covered a LOT better, we did a gas pump in a bright red and after 8 coats you could still see through it where motobase would cover in 2-3. However that was a issue with that specific color. We have noticed that bright yellow doesn't cover that well with MB, but just about every other color will cover like ink.

At this point I am unsure the value difference between the two as MB has had a few price increases since I have compared them. Maybe Wanda has as well, but I don't know either way. May be worth me looking into it.

Thanks Chad, I have sent a request for a quote to your sales support email for Moto-base.

Kate sent me a quote. Price is comparable with WANDA. I just have to make a decision. Thanks!

Price is similar unreduced or sprayable ounce? Moto-Base mixes 1:1 so will give more spray-able, this is the same thing we kept running into which was one of the factors in choosing Automotive Art. I really don't have anything against a 2:1 base but I think you have to look at it per sprayable ounce and not what the cost is before reduction. I think the next thing to look into is theoretical coverage between the two but that would take to much work to try and figure out. and now I'm just thinking out loud. lol.

Hey Chad I certainly agree. I like the sound of the Moto-Base. I will more than likey be ordering. I still have some prep to do and my work schedule will hold me back the next couple of weeks. I really appreciate the information..

Just to update. I decided on MotoBase and ordered from Chad. Many thanks to Chad, Dave and Kate.. Great commuication and paint arrived quickly. Looks like it will be spring before I can report on how it turns out. A combination of work, weather and holidays are taking priority.
