56 Chevy Cameo Science Project

Back on this a little while doing a major shop cleaning. Rear bumper took a lot of time to assemble and install, as did those tail lights. Rear bumper brackets were hand fabricated reproductions and the fit was not great. Six pieces.

Rube Goldberg was the lead engineer
Lol...
I used a Rube'ism not long ago,all I got was a blank stare. "A what?"
Exceptional work Don. The Corvette in Cameo clothing is beautiful.
See the Chevy had a AR antique plate, where abouts?
That one was a great find. Man,there is all kinds of stuff hiding around here. 70 Cuda 383 4sp,68 Hemi gtx,Superbirds,Daytona's,68 Hemi Charger,my older sister was renting a house from a guy years ago and took me out in the garage and there was a 53,I guess, first gen Corvette, that was the 13 car built. I got in and that's when I realized, They had no door windows.

Recycled a used C5 Corsa exhaust system that I found on Craigslist. A lot of dicing and splicing and a ridiculous amount of time trying to get the exhaust tips to line up. Not perfect but close enough for the likes of me. Looking forward to hearing that Corsa exhaust note.

Awesome !!!......that really highlighted the rear. Great choice for exhaust tips.

You have a good eye for what looks right.

Job well done :)

It’s alive! Glad to be finished with wiring. Started on first try after priming oil and fuel pressure. I bought the engine on eBay and is an LS6 but it’s pretty rowdy at idle so I think the cam has been swapped. Will likely need a dyno tune which I was trying to avoid. The transmission and differential came out of my $1500 Corvette roller and run great after fluid changes. The engine has 40 psi oil pressure at idle. Pretty lucky.

A few more things to button up and it will be ready for cruising. I’ve got full door panels that match the seat.

Glad it's coming together for ya Don!
That's a good looking seat, is it custom built, or out of something else?

i'm not feeling good about this!
Well I gambled on an untested used 4L60E and lost. It came with my $1500 C5 roller so not a lot of money invested in it. I knew that it was a risk. What I didn’t count on was 8 week leadtimes for a replacement. Going to try a local shop who claims 2-3 days but I’m a little skeptical.

Dropping that transaxle takes a bit of effort.

Don

Going to try a local shop

An AAMCO commercial from long ago comes to mind.....o_O
Sorry for your loss. You should have got a few pictures of the Event.
Was Mr. Goldberg's engineering involved ?
Might want to stay away from the surrounding States gaming facilities till this blows over too.

What a drag . . .
Best of luck with the shop. I've had mixed results with that.
